In the year 1940 this music institute was established by Nanigopal Bandopadhyay just to train the people in music. Till date this music school is known to be the best throughout West Bengal. Previously it was affiliated to the Bhatkhand Sangeet Vidyalaya of Lucknow. Right now, it is affiliated with Calcutta University. Since 1956 this college is affiliated with the university. This institute was established in the year 1995 by Rajiv Bose who wanted to take contemporary music to another level altogether. This is the only institute in Kolkata who has ties with various colleges all over the world like the London College of Music, Trinity College of London. This was establishedby Dr. Phillipé Sandré, in the year 1915 AD.DrSandré was a musician and a friend of famous composer Saint Saëns.
